Electric Violin Shop carries a full line of strings, with our usual focus on those brands and types most popular with electric violin makers and players. In addition to strings for traditional four-string violins, violas, and cellos, we also carry violin-scale C, F, and B-flat strings for five, six, and seven-string violins, and octave sets and octave C strings, if you're interested in setting your instrument up as a baritone violin or a true "chin cello".
D'addario Helicore
D'addario's Helicore strings are one of the most popular strings on the market for electric instruments. Standard equipment on electric instruments from NS Design, Skyinbow, and Epoch, as well as our own EVS Spark line of acoustic-electrics, Helicores give the player the brightness and quick response of steel strings while feeling more like a synthetic-core string. Also available in a short-scale viola C, as these strings are immensely popular with five-string players.
Sensicore
Sensicore professional-quality Perlon-core strings offer a great value for the money. They give the player the feel of a traditional gut string, but are much less sensitive to temperature and humidity changes. Tonally, these strings are warmer and less bright than steel-core strings.
We're big fans of Sensicore strings because they offer a great-sounding string of consistent quality that's available in a truly astounding range of pitches, from an A string above the violin E to a low E-flat two octaves and a third below the G string on the violin (for eight and nine!-string violinists). They even make violin-length octave strings, including an octave C string to transform your instrument into a baritone violin or a true "chin cello".
