The E. F. Keebler Filament brings lightweight, beautiful & ergonomic design, and highly professional tone quality to the mid-level electric violin market. Eric Keebler has put his decades of professional electric-violin-making experience into creating an instrument that's light in the left hand, great sounding, precisely shaped, and more affordable than many other instruments in its class. This is a truly professional-caliber violin that is meant for every violinist.

Design

Designed with playing comfort in mind, the measurements of all the parts of the instrument that the player interacts with are true to the measurements of an acoustic violin.

  • Weighs 644g (1 lb. 6.7 oz), with a balance point 145mm from the edge of the lower bout and a head weight of just 110g. This is among the lightest solid body violins available!
  • A precisely-located upper-bout fragment mimics the edge of the upper bout of an acoustic violin and serves as a reference when shifting into high positions.
  • The chinrest sits at the same height it would on an acoustic. The surface of the chinrest support is contoured like that of an acoustic violin, allowing chinrests to grip firmly without modification or adhesives. You are free to swap out the supplied side-mounted Beran chinrest for any other standard model (note that designs meant to straddle a tailpiece may partially overhang the end of the chinrest support).
  • The bridge height is adjustable as it sits on two set-screws so that you can easily set your own action
  • The tuner pegbox is located directly behind the bridge at a position and angle that both keep them away from the player’s chin and preserve the correct angles of the strings as they pass over the bridge. This also places their weight far back, contributing enormously to the amazingly-low head weight. Tune easily while bowing by reaching up from underneath the violin with your left hand to turn the tuner knobs.
  • The neck is finished with linseed oil for comfort and free movement of your thumb shifting up and down positions.
  • A case is included, and the Filament fits in most standard violin cases.

Tone

  • The proprietary Keebler pickup is a 3-element, 5-axis piezoelectric system. The timbre of the Main element and the Aux elements are adjustable independently, and there’s a separate blend control for each aux element’s level.
  • The pickup adjustment is not meant to be done on-the-fly during performance, but rather to the player's taste before playing. It comes carefully set up for a woody and lyrical “acoustic” timbre for you so that the violin is completely ready-to-play when you receive it.
  • Volume and treble roll-off knobs are at your fingertips for mid-performance control.

Lighting Kit (optional add-on)

Add a modular lighting kit! The LED light panels are battery powered and magnetic, so they simply snap into place, connecting through the three circular holes in the violin's body.

Module types:

  1. Surface-mounted LEDs

  2. Carved design in aluminum, backlit by LEDs

Each module can have one or more lighting functions, with each half being controllable independently. This lets you turn on just the side facing your audience, doubling your battery life). Small (3mm) LEDs are single-color, while larger (5mm) ones can be multi-color (RGB) with either auto-changing colors or switches for each primary color to produce seven blended colors.
