Part from a limited-quantity run of custom colors, this CSMa is essentially a custom paint finished WAV violin body with NXTa polar pickup and active electronics.

Get the same shape and exceptional ergonomic feel as the pro-level NS Design CR series violins at a much lower price point! With a scroll-less head stock design, carved interior, and patented shoulder rest system, the CSMa is lightweight, highly adjustable, and extremely comfortable to play.

Excellent tone is provided by NS Design's Polar ™ Pickup System, which provides powerful dynamics, rich, full sound, a high sensitivity to the bow, and sustained pizzicato, allowing for a very acoustic-like playing experience.

NS Design's own geared tuner system provides accurate, and stable tuning and makes new string installation easy and fast.

Comes complete with fabric covered hardshell case with handle and shoulder strap. It’s padded on the inside, with room for your bow, and compartments for the shoulder rest, output cable, and extra gear.

STRINGS: NS Electric Strings are standard. Compatible with solid and stranded core violin strings. Synthetic core strings are not recommended.

PRECISION TUNING HARDWARE: NS Design patented tuning system. Fine tuners are mounted on the body behind the bridge for precise, stable tuning. Automatic string clamping allows for quick, easy string changes.

PICKUP: The Polar directional piezo pickup system responds selectively to either lateral string vibration (for dynamic bowing) or vertical string vibration (for remarkably even and sustained plucked/pizzicato sound, like a mandolin).

ACTIVE ELECTRONICS: An active onboard circuit gives the CSMa an output signal that’s ready to plug into any amplification equipment. A rechargeable Mi-Si super-capacitor makes the CSMa a battery-free active violin, eliminating the hassle and cost of batteries while helping protect the environment.

  • Active mode is engaged by pulling the tone knob outward. Using the supplied charger, plug the violin into any AC outlet for 60 seconds to power the capacitor-powered active circuit for up to 16 hours of performance time. The instrument can then be plugged straight into any low or high impedance device, no direct box necessary. Since there is no signal loss over the full frequency spectrum of the instrument, the fundamentals of every note remain clear and strong, even with extra-long cables.
  • The violin is in passive mode when the tone knob is pushed inward. The violin can be played in this mode when using a direct box or an amplifier with high impedance input.
