Wind Fiddles Allocaster 4-String Electric Violin, Ash with Barbera Pickup

This 4-string Allocaster from Wind Fiddles luthier Al Patterson is handmade from Ash with a Bloodwood fingerboard. This finishing technique gives the wood a deep glow that cries out to be touched. The patent-pending design is compatible with Kun or Wolf-like shoulder rests and comes stock with a Kun. The Barbera Twin Hybrid pickup provides a rich, fat, amplified sound. Case not included. The instrument maker recommends either the CrossRock CRF4020O or the Gewa Pura Oblong violin case.

Al Patterson started out building electric violins in high school with his dad. Now, with a decade of engineering experience under his belt, he has focused his attention on designed and crafting the perfect electric violin. The product of his efforts are his ‘Wind Fiddles,’ which we are proud to carry! Himself a discerning electric violinist, the design of this violin stems from Al’s three core tenets: 1 - the violin should be aesthetically pleasing; 2 - the violin should be a delight to play; 3 - the violin should provide no excuse to get left behind.

We think Al has created a fantastic instrument that honors all three points, employing and innovating on all the best violin design ideas while inventing several new ones of his own! The result? Classic, clean lines, light weight, ergonomic playing experience, and rich tone. The attention placed on designing the instrument specifically for the player is what sets Wind Fiddles apart. As with other notable ergonomic designs, the Allocaster ditches the scroll and places tuning pegs (Wittner Fine-Tune planetary tuners) at the shoulder. The angled pegbox design places all pegs on one side for effortless tuning. As for comfort, the Wind Fiddles proprietary shoulder rest adaptor allows any (standard) shoulder rest to be used, while keeping the violin as slim as possible. The shoulder rest adaptor allows independent up/down adjustment of both ends of the shoulder rest pad as well as providing adjustment toward and away from the player’s neck.
