The Eastman VL501-EAV is the perfect acoustic-electric violin for traditionalists who sometimes want amplification without anyone knowing they're actually plugged in. While equipped to be plugged into amps, effects pedals, loopers, and PA systems, with Eastman's Jean-Pierre Lupot step-up model acoustic violin body it is perfectly suitable for the symphony stage--not a button, knob, or output jack in sight!

With a quality pickup supplied by Fishman, internal electronics, and a discreet output jack in the end button, the VL501-EAV has a great amplified sound and good feedback resistance in an instrument that looks just like (and weighs no more than) a regular acoustic violin.

Powered by a Fishman pickup element that's discreetly embedded in the top of the instrument (underneath the varnish), the Eastman VL501-EAV has a proprietary 3.5mm output jack that replaces the end button, making it almost invisible. Further ensuring inconspicuous amplification and light weight, the instrument includes a skinny cable with right angle 3.5mm male plug for the end button output jack terminating in a standard 1/4" mono plug, so you can plug directly into a amplifier, preamp, or mixing board.

The Eastman Electro Acoustic VL501-EAV has a beautiful amplified tone and excellent feedback resistance. Created using their Jean-Pierre Lupot VL501 violin, this instrument is constructed with a select spruce top and well-flamed maple back, sides and scroll, and has a deep, reddish antiqued spirit varnish.

"Unplugged", Eastman's Jen-Pierre Lupot violin has a strong, clear sound under the ear, with good bass response, good projection, and plenty of brilliance on the high end.

This violin's amplified sound is warm and richer. Cleverly embedding the pickup directly into the violin's spruce top tames some of the violin's high-end brightness, thus avoiding any of the treble harshness that is associated with some acoustic pickup systems.

Eastman includes their proprietary ten-foot cable, but we'd recommend grabbing an extra, as it's not something you'll be able to borrow from your guitar player.
