If you want a cello pickup that allows your audience to hear all the tonal nuances of your cello, this is your best choice! It's basically a dynamic contact microphone that mounts to the surface of your cello with a non-marring putty (Rostropovich used the DYN-C on his Stradivarius cello!). It is not immune to feedback in high-volume situations, where Schertler's STAT-C is more appropriate.

To reproduce all the complexity of your cello's tone in low to moderate-volume amplified settings, the Schertler DYN-C dynamic transducer is your best choice! It's like having a sound tech following you around with a studio mic! Mounts on the back of your instrument with high-tech non-marring putty (Rostropovich used the DYN-C on his Strad cello!), removed easily. The Schertler DYN-C cello pickup can be easily installed or removed from your cello in a minute.

The transducer is attached to a 3-pin mini-XLR connector by a 12" cable. The D shaped spring steel of the connector is designed to grip the tailpiece. An 88" cable plugs into the connector on your tailpiece, and terminates in a standard XLR mic jack. No phantom power is required.

Like any microphone, the DYN-C can be somewhat prone to feedback in higher-volume settings. In those situations, the Schertler STAT-C is a better choice.

NOTE: Do not thump the piston of the transducer to see if it works - it is very sensitive and can be damaged. (This sensitivity is why it sounds so good!)
