Yamaha Adapter Jack for SV-100/110/120 Silent Violins
This 3.5 mm TRS male to 1/4" mono female adapter cable is the original Yamaha replacement part for the pigtail adapter that allowed the SV-100, SV-110, and SV-120 to be plugged into an amplifier using a standard 1/4" instrument cable. It's screwed into the back of the body, just below the reverb controls, and the 3.5mm end plugs into the Line Out jack of the instrument.
The original Yamaha Silent Violin was the SV-100, and it was designed solely for "silent" practice. It had a 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo Line Out jack that could be used to plug it into a stereo, but it really wasn't designed for live sound or performance.
To make the SV-100 a more usable instrument for performance, Yamaha made a 3.5 mm TRS male to 1/4" mono female adapter cable. This "pigtail" adapter allowed you to plug your SV-100 (and later, the SV-110 and SV-120) to be plugged into an amplifier using a standard 1/4" instrument cable.
The adapter screws into the back of the violin's body, just below the reverb controls, and the 3.5mm end plugs into the Line Out jack of the instrument.
