The 'Renaissance' from Maloney Stringed Instruments is a semi hollow-body electric violin, with the full outline and depth of an acoustic violin. The transducer bridge is Dan Maloney's unique design. The combination is one of the sweetest, most acoustic-sounding electric violins we've heard.

The combination of maker Dan Maloney's semi-hollow body design and his own transducer bridge yield an attractive electric violin that has a convincingly natural violin tone when played through a good acoustic amplifier. The bass tone is strong, rich and warm, and the E string has brilliance, but isn't overly bright or harsh at all. This instrument may be the Ideal answer for the tone purist who's been on the hunt for an electric violin that sounds nearly as good as their acoustic.

The flamed maple top of this violin integrates beautifully with the maple of the neck. The design reflects a mature, refined aesthetic that showcases Dan Maloney's wood choices, attention to detail, and careful craftsmanship. The result is an instrument that feels like home to the classical player and, aside from the absence of "f" holes, even looks a lot like your "normal" violin.

For amplified tone, this new height adjustable MSI bridge/pickup system does an exceptional job, preserving the round, open feel of the semi-hollow instrument's acoustic resonance while producing a sweet, focused tone that's strong but not overpowering. The bridge feet have height adjustment, making it easy to accommodate different playing styles. Includes a lightweight Protec case.
